The whole controversy over the issue of homosexual education and rights is very baffling to me. We are outraged by countries with schools which teach hatred of America and yet we have gatherings hee in America that teach hatred of homosexuals. This level of hypocrisy and intolerance, I really don't understand. There are many issues where I can repsectfully diagree with the opposite view and about which I can engage in a mutually enlightening discussion. But I've gotten to a point where I don't know if I can have such civil discourse on this one issue. I bring it up because of this article: www.cnn.com/2005/EDUCATION/05/06/sex.ed.lawsuit.ap/index.htmlI don't think the critics are 100% out of line. Regardless of my pesonal beliefs, I think it is qute strong to teach a curriculum where "Baptists... are painted as 'intolerant and Biblically misguided.'" But that is no reason to kill entire program. The article ends by saying: "Erik Stanley, an attorney for the groups that filed suit, said the curriculum excludes the viewpoints of former gays and those who believe that 'same-sex attraction can be overcome.'" And when I was in high school, the curriculum completely dismissed the people who believe that African-Americans are an inferior race. Boy, did that omission piss me off. How did this happen? Darius
