And so it is. Anyone care to sound off on this?
I am wondering if you could go here and see if it affects your viewpoint any:
www.dieoff.com
There is the main page and the synopsis page that at least merits your time. I am actually very curious to see if it pulls you to the right any. It did for me, as it shows the problem is a little deeper than they just want to take our rights away because they are evil. We indeed have evidence all around us that the elite class nowadays has shared wealth more than perhaps any other elite class in history. Look at the buildings in your city.
Viewing it from this perspective shows that the current loss of rights trend that is alarming all the IQ in the country is probably due to something very very large and very very alarming.
Perhaps it is that we are coming into a time of great responsibility for all Americans. I see now that it will truly be hard to maintain our ideals through this. Were the rank and file Germans able to?
I figure you are already somewhat read on the depletion subject, but this site gives some great perspective. In fact it is downright alarming, once one has a firm understanding of an energy sink.

Part of my response:
It may be true that "the elite class nowadays has shared wealth more than perhaps any other elite class in history," but I think the point is incomplete without adding that the disparity between rich and poor is more dramatic than it has ever been. It's a standard left-wing refrain, but I think it's a trenchant one: It's fine for the rich to be rich, but it seems wrong for them to get richer and richer when others are getting poorer and poorer.
I took a look at dieoff.com and found it quite interesting. I haven't yet explored its contents enough to evaluate it with any authority, but I mostly agree with what seems to be its central thesis about energy depletion. I've bookmarked the site, and will read it with more attention soon. Perhaps we should start a new thread about it in the politics section and see what others have to say.
